John Emmons Statement on House Vote
Saturday, May 16, 2020
West Chester, PA – John Emmons, candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania’s Sixth Congressional District, released the following statement in response to last night’s House vote:
“Last night, Chrissy Houlahan kept alive her ‘perfect record’ of voting with Nancy Pelosi 100% of the time.
“Nancy Pelosi rammed through an 1,800-page, $3 trillion spending bill under the guise of Coronavirus relief. The bill was so laden with pork – including $1 trillion in bailouts for states and municipalities, $50 million for ‘environmental justice’ grants, student loan debt forgiveness, and payouts to illegal immigrants – that 14 Democrats voted against it. But Chrissy Houlahan sided with Nancy Pelosi yet again, voting to plunge our country deeper in debt.
“The Coronavirus lockdown has crippled our economy, destroyed businesses, and plunged millions of American families into economic peril, and yet Nancy Pelosi and Chrissy Houlahan are trying to take advantage of this crisis to fund their pet projects and pay off their political allies.
“We need to re-open and unleash the American economy, and we can do so in a way that’s safe and protects those most at risk. We need to bring back American manufacturing and end our dependence on China. We need to rein in overspending from Washington.
“We know how to create jobs: Before the Coronavirus lockdown, we had the strongest economy in a generation, with record-low unemployment. We need to let businesses re-open and re-hire their employees. We need to let the American people get back to work.”
